Oh Valdani, where have you been all my life?

Valdani, Valdani, Valdani.....that is all I have seen or heard about since I started my venture into the world of punch needle. "What is this thing they call Valdani?" I wondered. Could it REALLY be that great? Post after post and listing after listing all I saw was "Valdani Thread." There were words like hand over dyed, variegated, three strand, size 5, size 8, size 12, and the list goes on. I must admit I balked at the idea of it the minute I searched the price. Was a thread that was almost 50% more in cost really worth it? How could it be? It was just as easy for me to use my DMC and not only pay less, but also be able to run to our local Walmart to pick up some extra when I ran low. One problem though. Walmart only has maybe 20 color choices and most of the time the color you need is out. Big frownie face.😞

So I pushed on, determined not to fall into this "so called" Valdani trap! No, not me! I wasn't going to budge! DMC all the way. Cheaper and also a good quality thread. Then, as months went by and I made more and more pieces and put them on Etsy I began to falter. Gasp! Could I really be thinking about Valdani??? Was it possible that I saw myself biting the bullet and shelling out the money to risk it? It was a tug of war. Now that I was selling my items I wanted to put out the best quality item I could. I was putting all the hard work into making some of my own patterns, choosing the colors, and putting it all together so I should be allowed to be a snob and expect to use only the highest quality, top rated thread, right??? (that was my justification 😁) Right! So days would go by.....and as I would search for the best price online I would have my wallet in hand ready to whip out that credit card and seal the deal. What was stopping me? The price.

Fast forward to a few days ago. The heaven's opened up and I found a good deal on a set of Valdani size 8 thread. It was called the "Delicious Chocolate Collection," Really? With a name like that who could resist? I mean. Come on!

Now, the wait. Two day shipping. Ok. I could handle that. I would ponder my decision for such a purchase the whole time. No kidding! I also have to admit I was like a kid at Christmas when it finally arrived. Was it really going to be worth it? Oh please dear Lord let it be! My husband would never let me live it down if it wasn't!

Drum Roll Please!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE THIS THREAD! Yep! Enough to declare it in all caps! Wowzers is there a difference! I was so excited to try it I dropped my current punch needle project to start another one. My daughter said I should try doing a Yorkie.... so I did. I traced and erased and traced and did much more erasing until I finally got it. See my work in progress below. (The picture shows the back side of the work. Just imagine what the front side is going to look like!)

Once I have finished this little guy I will make sure to share it!

So to all you fellow Valdani doubters I can honestly say this. Give it a try! Your time and effort is worth such a great quality thread.

Thanks for checking in and stay creative!
